PRIMARY EYE CARE:
Primary eye care includes a comprehensive vision and eye health examination. This examination is designed to detect a wide range of problems affecting visual function, such as refractive error (needing glasses) or ocular disease. The American Optometric Association recommends that everyone have a comprehensive eye examination each year.
Computer technology is incorporated into our office to assist the evaluation of spectacle prescriptions, peripheral vision, intraocular pressure, record keeping, and ocular health examinations. Computerized examination instruments are used to supplement rather than replace personalized care.
Our examinations include tests for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, blurry vision, and the ocular effects of many general health disorders such as diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as effects of medications on eye health.
Dilation is done routinely at our office. This allows for better and more thorough examination of the eye and provides the best assessment of eye health. It is recommended for all new patients and on an individualized schedule based on the patient’s heath needs thereafter.
